Microneedling

Rejuvapen microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries that stimulate a healing response for selected scar, texture, tone, and line concerns.

Rejuvapen™ Microneedling

Rejuvapen™ microneedling creates tiny punctures in the skin to trigger a healing response. It may be used for acne scars, fine lines, creases, mild stretch marks, and other texture concerns. Aesthetic providers at Central Dermatology Center perform the treatment under the supervision of board-certified dermatologists. The treatment can be used on a small or large area depending on the concern.

How Microneedling Works

Microneedling creates controlled, pinpoint openings in the skin. The pen-shaped Rejuvapen device uses 9 tiny microneedles as the provider moves it across the treatment area. The openings are too small to see, but they trigger the skin’s natural healing process. As healing progresses, the skin produces new stores of collagen and elastin, two foundational components of smooth, healthy-looking skin.

Treatment requires topical numbing rather than surgery. The provider can adjust the plan around the area being treated and the concerns identified during consultation.

Concerns It May Address

Rejuvapen microneedling may be considered for:

  • Acne scarring
  • Large pores
  • Sun damage
  • Fine lines and creases
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Surgical and other scars
  • Mild stretch marks

The appropriate treatment depends on skin elasticity and tone. Some concerns may be better suited to laser treatment, such as Fraxel®. When more extensive facial rejuvenation or volume restoration is part of the goal, microneedling may be combined with injectable treatment. A consultation helps distinguish when microneedling is a fit and when another option should be considered.

Recovery and Treatment Timing

After microneedling, skin may feel mildly sunburned, tight, warm, or tingly. These sensations gradually diminish and are typically gone within 24 hours. Avoid makeup during this period, and keep the face and hands clean.

Results appear gradually as the healing response progresses. Final results are expected at approximately 3 months after treatment. A series of 4 to 6 treatments is typically expected, allowing the plan to account for the concern and the response over time.

Microneedling With PRP or PRFM

Microneedling may be combined with PRP or PRFM, meaning platelet-rich plasma or platelet-rich fibrin matrix. This approach uses platelets from the blood as part of treatment and is intended to support collagen and elastin production, cellular turnover, and healing time. Microneedling with PRP or PRFM is available for all skin types.
